OutREACH Cumbria has been running for over the last 20 years. First starting in the local health authority to it's present state of a registered Charity, Outreach has gone from strength to strength.
Our current work includes consultation work with Local Authorities, the NHS, Schools, Colleges and Universities and many more establishments, businesses and other charities across not only Cumbria, but the UK and some of Europe too. We deliver training around LGBT issues and Hate Crime and are currently developing a new service to cater for the Trans* community here in Cumbria.
As part of our work with Schools we are now a Stonewall Training Partner and have plans to deliver training to both Primary and Secondary Schools across the county, as well as Colleges and Universities. (We may also look at putting some training on for people who work with young LGBT people.)
Outreach have been running on volunteers for years now and are looking to secure some funding to enable to pay some workers to accomplish the work that is coming in.
Last year we received funds to deliver CELEBRATE, which is looking at the LGBT history of Cumbria. This exciting project will showcase it's finding in an exhibition held at Tullie House next Autumn. For more information visit the Celebrate website.
